Madeline Randolph began her career in entertainment in children’s television at the Wrather Corporation (“Lassie”, Disney children’s programming).  Her career shifted to the music industry when she joined A&M Records as the National Promotions’ Coordinator for the Special Projects Division overseeing this promotion department’s nation-wide team for radio airplay promotion of the Black/Urban/Disco Artists/Talent.  Once the Special Projects Division was expanded to the A&R department, she became the National Coordinator and Session Contractor for the Black/Urban/Disco Artists at A&M Records, receiving and  cataloguing all talent submissions, overseeing all recording and session bookings of musicians, and creating and filing contracts with the unions.

The relationships she cultivated with the studio, the administration departments, unions and most importantly, the talent, quickly caught the attention of Quincy Jones.  She joined his company, Quincy Jones Productions/Qwest Records, and began her association; initially, as Quincy Jones’ Executive Assistant, where she oversaw his schedule, productions, correspondence, appointments and appearances.  She was the professional liaison between the legal, financial and label chiefs.  Her creation of the company’s Daily Business Report and Operation Manual became the template for the supervision of the production schedule and staff.  She was eventually appointed Executive Vice President of Operations.  She coordinated, amongst other major projects, the “Thriller” album for Michael Jackson, and the “We Are The World” recording.  For the film “The Color Purple”, she was Quincy’s on-site Production Assistant, coordinating activities both at the Hollywood and North Carolina production offices.  In addition, Madeline served as the Co-Music Supervisor for the film, as well as other Quincy Jones’ film soundtracks.

Madeline went directly from Quincy Jones Productions to Epic Records as the West Coast Director of A&R.  Her creative work acumen caught the attention of several labels and in less than a year she was approached by MCA Records with the offer of National A&R director where she scouted, signed and produced a litany of their prominent musical roster as well as their prolific soundtrack department.  After a great run at MCA/Universal, Madeline decided it was time to initiate her own film and music production company, One Sun Productions.  She provided music supervision for several films and TV movies.  She was approached to work as the President of The Ultimate Group/New Line Cinema Label, coordinating the successful launch of music talent, and producing and coordinating several pilots for television and films.   While working on all the afore-mentioned projects she initiated her production company, Big Jim Productions, with her business partner Aileen Randolph.  Their projects include several television series and film projects.  In addition, they run a full-scale entertainment consulting company that supports record companies and film entities alike.   Concurrently, they have worked on over 100 films, TV movies, and commercials as line producers, management, location managers, and writers.

Madeline is a member of several civic and entertainment entities.  She is cheerfully approaching this new endeavor at Higher Ground 44 with optimism and appreciation for all the potential success and fulfillment we promise to work hard to share.
